About Tami

Tami was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, with severe mental challenges. Her biological Father had stepped out of the picture when Tami was just a baby, shortly after her birth, Tami's birth mother passed away, leaving Tami in the care of her uncle.

After the mother's death, Tami's uncle decided to place her for adoption, seeing himself as unfit to take care of her. At 2 years old, Tami was placed in an orphanage.

In 2003, she was adopted by the Blackford Family, right before her 4th birthday. The orphanage thought that Tami was deaf and diagnosed her as such. Soon after adoption, the Blackford family realized that Tami had been improperly diagnosed. She was not deaf, she just didn't communicate as quickly as other kids.

Tami was definitely a daddy's girl. She was generally very happy and she loved dribbling basketballs. She could dribble when the Blackford family got her at 3 years old!She loved taking naps in the warm sun, and you could often find her napping by a window or a sunny spot in the backyard.

In August, 2019, at 20 years old, Tami passed away in her sleep.

She was greatly beloved by her parents and siblings, and although she is no longer with us physically, we take comfort in knowing that she is much happier resting in the presence of our Savior. Her memory and smile will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Life for All International has chosen to dedicate this special needs international adoption fund in her honor.
